What is SQMC's online Lead Auditor course actually like?
If the phrase “five-day online course” makes you picture five days of staring silently at slides, we understand. But that isn’t how we teach.
SQMC’s Virtual Classroom was developed specifically for live instructor-led training. You’ll see and speak to your tutor and fellow delegates throughout the course, take part in discussions and group exercises, work through audit situations, share documents and screens, and ask questions whenever something needs a little more explanation.
Your tutor can stop, draw something out, demonstrate a process, challenge your thinking or go back over a point — just as they would in one of our physical classrooms.
The technology is simply the classroom. The learning is still human.

Live training — not e-learning
There is an important difference between an online course and an e-learning course. With e-learning, you usually work independently through recorded material at your own pace. This Lead Auditor course is different. You attend with your tutor and fellow delegates for five full days of structured, interactive training.

What do you need to attend?
Nothing particularly exotic. A proper computer is strongly recommended rather than trying to complete the course on a phone or small tablet.
You'll need:
A desktop or laptop computer
Webcam and microphone (built-in or plug-in)
Reliable internet connection
A quiet place where you can participate and speak freely
Space to work with your course materials
Permission to use your camera and microphone where required
We'll send you full joining instructions beforehand so you can check everything is working before the course begins.
Not confident with online learning?
Don't worry. You don't need to be particularly technical. If you can join a video meeting, open documents and use a web browser, you should be perfectly comfortable. And if something does go wrong, there will be an actual, human, technician at SQMC to help.

Is Lead Auditor training right for you?
This is an advanced-level course.
You should already have a reasonable working knowledge of ISO 9001 before attending. The week is designed to teach you how to apply that knowledge as an auditor — not to teach ISO 9001 from scratch.

Is the course completely online?
Yes. The training is delivered live through SQMC's Virtual Classroom, so you can complete the entire course without travelling to an SQMC centre.
Is this self-paced e-learning?
No. This is scheduled, tutor-led training. You attend live sessions with your tutor and fellow delegates throughout the five-day course.
Is the online course CQI and IRCA certified?
Yes. SQMC's ISO 9001 Lead Auditor course is CQI and IRCA certified under course licence A18054.
How long is the course?
Five days, equivalent to 40 CPD hours.
Is the CQI and IRCA exam included?
Yes. The CQI and IRCA examination fee is included in your SQMC course fee.
Do I receive a copy of ISO 9001?
Yes. We provide a licensed copy of ISO 9001 to keep and use during your examination.
Do I need previous ISO 9001 knowledge?
Yes. Lead Auditor is advanced-level training and assumes a working knowledge of ISO 9001. If you're new to the Standard, we recommend completing Requirements Awareness training first.
Can I attend from outside the UK?
Absolutely, yes. We welcome international delegates where the UK course timetable is suitable. Speak to us before booking if you're unsure.
Is online training harder than classroom training?
No, it has the same learning objectives, and the same opportunity for individual coaching. Some learners actually prefer the convenience and focus of working from their own desk. The important distinction is that this is interactive, tutor-led training rather than independent e-learning.
Can my company arrange a private online course?
