SQMC Environmental Policy

We believe that responsible environmental management is simply about being good stewards of the world we live in. As a company that trains others in ISO 14001, we aim to practice what we teach — making practical, sensible choices to reduce waste and operate efficiently. While our business has a low environmental impact, we remain committed to minimising unnecessary waste, complying with legal requirements, and making continual improvements where it makes sense to do so.

Our Commitments to our Environment:

  1. Reducing Waste – We prefer digital documents over printing, recycle wherever possible, and avoid unnecessary consumption of resources.
  2. Sustainable Procurement – We choose responsible suppliers and products where feasible, considering factors like recyclability, efficiency, and ethical sourcing.
  3. Energy & Resource Efficiency – We are mindful of our energy use in the office and encourage energy-conscious behaviours, such as switching off unused equipment and using efficient lighting and heating.
  4. Remote Learning & Practical Travel Choices – We invest heavily in remote learning and online training, providing a travel-free alternative for those who prefer it. We are also mindful of accessibility by public transport when scheduling open-to-public courses in physical venues.
  5. Legal Compliance & Best Practice – We comply with all applicable environmental laws and best practices, ensuring that we meet or exceed expectations placed on responsible businesses.
  6. Leadership & Expert Guidance – While we do not provide formalised environmental training to our staff, SQMC management leads by example in sustainable practices. Additionally, we have industry experts within our team, including professionals with experience in environmental regulation and compliance, ensuring that we stay informed on best practices and evolving standards. Our consultants actively provide expert guidance to clients, giving us the additional benefit of continuous professional insight into environmental management challenges and solutions.
  7. Consultation & Continual Improvement – We engage with our staff, students, and partners to find better ways of reducing unnecessary environmental impact and regularly review our performance to refine our approach. We are continually researching ways to reduce course paperwork, experimenting with virtual methods such as Plaudits, and developing e-modules to support our learners. This proactive approach helps us stay at the forefront of sustainable and efficient learning solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Management – Ensures that environmental considerations are integrated into business decisions.
  • Employees & Tutors – Expected to follow environmental best practices and support SQMC’s commitment to responsible resource use.
  • Students & Visitors – Encouraged to be mindful of their own environmental impact when engaging with SQMC.

Commitment to Ongoing Improvement:

We do what we do — not driven by trends or external pressures — but as responsible caretakers of planet Earth. We are committed to making thoughtful choices that reduce waste, preserve resources, and maintain a respectful balance with the environment. This policy will be reviewed regularly to ensure we continue to improve.
