Ian Hannah |
In 1989, Prof. Brian Moores formed the Scottish Quality Management Centre, as an extension to Stirling University 's work in Management Science.
By August 1990, Fellow of the Institute of Quality Assurance (now Chartered Quality Institute – CQI), Ian Hannah, had taken over from Prof. Moores, in the role of Director of Programmes.
In January 1998, Ian left the University to expand SQMC's QMS/ISO 9000 training capabilities as a limited company. He increased his select team of Associates, combining their wide experience in a variety of manufacturing and public service organisations.
Ian's son, Kenny, joined the company 6 months later. His original role was to take charge of administrative duties, and this allowed Ian to design additional courses - such as his pioneering hybrid Internal Auditor programmes, which combines QMS with either Environmental or Health and Safety Management Systems. Kenny now controls the general Operations of the organisation, and is responsible for course co-ordination, PR, marketing, purchasing and graphic design work.
Nowadays, SQMC Ltd. are renowned throughout Europe as dedicated Trainers & Advisors in Environmental Management Systems, Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems, and - in particular - Quality Management Systems, with Offices in Dunfermline and Glasgow.
Our Head of Training Division is Ron Rivans, MCQI. Although his background is in Metallurgy, his training experience in manufacturing and service industries is very broad. He also acts as Third-Party auditor for a UKAS-accredited Certification Body, ensuring that our training programmes are up-to-date and relevant.
David Ingham, FCQI, is our Head of Consultancy and Audits Division . His background is in Electrical Engineering and I.T., but more recently he has been involved with assisting small companies to implement ISO 9001:2000, and 'quality improvement'.
The dedication of these professionals is complemented by what we believe to be some of the finest IRCA-approved Tutors in Europe, plus Consultants and Auditors, each one with their own specialist areas.
We have welcomed delegates from as far afield as Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt . France, Greece, Holland, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Portugal, South Africa and the USA, etc. and of course, throughout the UK.

TELEPHONE CONSULTANCY SUPPORT
TCS is a service we introduced in 2005. It aims to provide small companies with economic Management Systems consultancy assistance at low cost, quickly, at the end of a phone line!
TCS is available for a fixed monthly fee of £29 + VAT, however every delegate who attends an SQMC 2-day or 5-day training programme has free access to the service for 6 months afterwards - a £174 'bonus'! It also enhances and complements the training we provide!
