BS OHSAS 18,001:2007 provides industry with a useful model for managing health risks and safety risks resulting from business operations and for improving OH&S performance. Within the management systems model the internal audit process is identified as a key tool in the maintenance and continual improvement of an OH&S management system (OH&S MS).
The aim of this 14-hour course is to provide participants who intend to perform internal audits with the knowledge and skills needed to assess and report on the conformance and effective implementation of processes, through internal audit, and to contribute to the continual improvement of the OH&S Management System.
People involved in OH&S Management System auditing processes within their organisation, i.e. staff designated to be the OH&S Management System Auditors, or those who will be affected by OH&S Management Systems audits. Also, managers who want to know what to expect from an Internal Audit!
Participants will learn what is expected of them - as auditors, or auditees - as per the new ISO 19,011 (November 2002) Auditing Guidelines. Training in internal auditing provides delegates with a broader understanding of the key processes of an organisation, and of their Health and Safety Policy and how it is implemented.
Positive Communication channels are opened up or reinforced by a greater awareness of OH&S procedures.
Continuous assessment techniques will apply throughout the course, for the IRCA learning objectives tests. Successful completion of the course will be verified by a Certificate of Competence issued by SQMC.
