An increasing number of SQMC clients are engaging our Senior Consultant, David Ingham, to help develop their Management System in readiness for ISO certification and/or aid continual improvement. Some hire SQMC to conduct their internal audits periodically. After meeting with a client and assessing their requirements, David will then assign a Consultant (or Auditor) who has relevant knowledge of the client’s specific industry, to carry out the contract.

With a background in electrical engineering, David has had a wealth of experience in the

manufacture of various electrical goods. In the Quality area he has experience in factory SPC and FMEA as well as internal auditing, and assists small to medium-sized companies in achieving ISO 9001:2000 standard Quality Management Systems. He is an IRCA-listed SQMC Tutor, teaching Internal QMS Auditor courses.

Apart from Quality Management, David offers expertise in Environmental, Health and Safety and Food Hygiene Management Systems as well as Risk Assessment and business continuity planning.

When he was a Principal Quality Engineer with the MOD, Ian was manager of a Specialist Procurement Services Regional Quality Assurance Department being responsible for a field force of over 30 Quality Engineers who visited or were stationed at prime contractors in Scotland and Northern England.

He now assists a number of smaller firms to change or introduce quality management systems suitable to meet the requirements of ISO 9001:2000 and attain recognition of these systems by independent assessment bodies. Also, to assist these small firms continue to retain their certification and meet third party requirements, he performs the role of internal auditor, on their behalf, conducting audits to an agreed schedule of the installed quality management system.

Jim's work experience, as a Chartered surveyor, has primarily been in the construction industry. In the past 10 years or so, however, his Quality Assurance assignments, as a third-party Auditor, have varied from printing to light engineering to healthcare, and professional/legal offices, as well as construction sites.

Jim has also taken an Advanced Environmental Management Systems course (EARA-approved) and conducted environmental audits, and from time to time carries out QMS audits for a UKAS-approved Certification Body. He is an IRCA-listed SQMC Tutor, teaching on Internal QMS Auditor courses.

Previously with Serco Operations, part of the global Serco Group plc, providing management systems support, consultancy and training for contracts, George has a vast experience in Occupational Health & Safety matters. As Quality, Safety and Environmental Manager responsibilities included the co-ordination of ISO 9001: 2000; ISO 14001 and OHSAS18001 Management Systems to meet the requirements of Corporate Governance for internal control.

He is also involved in the development of Corporate Quality, Health and Safety, and Environmental Policy and Procedures, and can provide health and safety advice and support to senior Company staff and customers' staff.
Risk and COSHH assessments can be conducted, also control measures implemented, & reviews carried out.
George is a Registered Safety Practioner.

Karen is a highly respected business and quality consultant, having the vision and intellectual capacity to discern the key processes and personal development issues which are of paramount importance in any organisation.

Her area of personal interest is in Learning Organisations and the infrastructure and culture that must be developed to support such organisations. She is an IRCA-listed SQMC Tutor, teaching on Internal QMS Auditor courses.

As an Auditor for the Scottish Quality Management System for vocational education and training, and trainer of both SQMS and ISO 9000 auditors, Karen endeavours to put her values into practice, by contributing to the raising of standards in learning and teaching. Karen also teaches on an MSc in Practice Education at the University of Dundee and her work in this area has been encapsulated as an example of good practice into the National Board for Nursing and Midwifery's 'Quality Assuring CPD' documents, which are distributed throughout Health Services and Social Work Departments.

After an extensive career in Quality Assurance with the MOD and the NSI (National Supervisory Inspectorate) Derek has accumulated a wealth of experience as a QMS and EMS Lead Auditor, on assignments for UKAS-approved Certification Bodies. He is an IRCA-listed SQMC Senior Tutor, teaching on Lead Auditor and Internal Auditor courses.

In addition to carrying out various source inspection duties for contractors, worldwide, he takes an active part in the preparation of organisations for certification to ISO9001:2000.

Bruce had work experience in a variety of engineering companies such as Ferranti and Unisys before joining the British Standards Institution (BSi). He spent a dozen years with them in Business Development and as a Client Manager for ISO9001/2 certification. His advice to organizations seeking ISO 9000 certification, over the years, has been invaluable.

He is a Certified Assessor for the Electrostatic Discharge Association (EDA) and qualified in TL 9000 Systems Auditing. He is an IRCA-listed SQMC Tutor, teaching on Internal QMS Auditor courses.

After a successful career as a Technical Manager, then Quality Manager, in the steel industry Ron has spent the past 10 years mainly devoted to Quality Improvement as a Consultant, also as a third party Auditor for a UKAS-approved Certification Body. He is an IRCA-listed SQMC Senior Tutor, teaching on Lead Auditor and Internal Auditor courses.

A qualified Metallurgist, he has a vast experience in mechanical engineering in general but his work as an External Auditor has also included such diverse organisations as the Health Service and computer software designers.

Ron is also a trained tutor for TL16949 systems Internal Auditors.
